What are cookies?

Types of Cookies

We can have first-party cookies and third-party cookies, first ones are the ones that indicate the website as domain, the third-party cookies are related to external domains.

Third-party cookies are necessarily installed by an external entity, always referred to as “third party”, not managed by the website. These entities can eventually install first-party cookies, saving on the website domain their cookies.

Technical Cookies

Technical cookies are that ones used with the only aim to “make the transmission of a communication happen on an electronic communication net, or in so far as strictly required by the supplier of a service of the information society specifically required by the subscriber or by the User to provide the service” (cf. section 122, paragraph 1, of the Italian Code).

  • Analytics cookies, assimilated to technical cookies whereas they are directly employed by website manager to collect information, in an aggregated manner, about the users’ number and how they surf the same website, in order to improve the website workings;
  • Performance and operation cookies, which allow the User ‘s surfing according to series of selected criteria (for example, the language, selected products for the purchase) in order to improve the service rendered to the same. To install these cookies, it isn’t requested the prearranged users’ consent (more information in the paragraph Cookies Managing).

Profiling cookies

Profiling cookies aimed to create profiles related to User and they are employed in order to send advertising messages in line with preferences revealed by the same one in the framework of the browse.

For the employment of profiling cookies, the consent of the person involved is required. According to the injunction, (more information in the paragraph Cookies Managing), the User can authorize or deny the consent to the installation of these cookies using the options provided in the section “Cookies management”.

  1. Run Chrome browser
  2. Click on the menu in the toolbar of the browser next to the url navigation window

  6. Under “Cookies,” it is possible to modify the following settings:

  4. Select Privacy Panel
  5. Click Show advanced settings.
  6. In the “Privacy” section, click Content settings.
  7. In the ” Tracking ” section, you can change the following settings related to cookies
    • Request to websites not to make any tracking
    • Notify sites your willingness to be traced
    • Do not communicate any preference on the tracking of personal information
  8. From the “Chronology” section, you can:
    • With the enabling of “Use custom settings” select to accept third-party cookies (again, from the sites visited most or never) and keep them for a specified period (until they expire, to the closure of Firefox or ask every time)
    • Remove individual cookies stored
